The man, the myth, the legend Spizzy Spose will be doing something a little different this evening as he takes the stage of One Longfellow in Portland tonight. Starting at 8 o’clock Spose will be performing a one-time-only acoustic set with the help of some of Portland’s most profound players in the seriously awesome funk band Sly-Chi. Spizzy will be reinventing his catalog, performing some his most popular jams as well as deeper cuts that you wouldn’t normally get to hear live. Sly-Chi will get the night started by pumping out their own jams before backing up Spose for this stripped-down event.
It’s been almost three years since Portland’s own roots troubadour Samuel Jame released an album. Tonight James unveils his fourth album And for the Dark Road Ahead with a party of epic proportions at SPACE Gallery in Portland. Beginning at 8pm James will be accompanied on stage by an impressive array of local talent to help him bring some of the songs from the album to life. Special guests include dilly dilly, Zach Jones, Sontiago, Darien Brahms, Meantone and more.
The Mallett Brothers Band is finally back in town playing a show this evening that fits perfectly into the seasonal, ghoulish category. Tonight the six-headed, whiskey-drinking, guitar-slinging monster teams up with two Ghosts for a show over at The Asylum in Portland. That’s right MBB will be joined by Portland’s own Ghost of Paul Revere and Boston based act Ghosts of Jupiter for an epic throw down of rock and roll. Guitars start twanging, heads start rolling and boots meet asses starting at 9.
A night of jams takes over The Big Easy in Portland as the super fun and super talented dude known as John Clavette brings his band to the stage for a evening of fun. Also kicking out the jams for you to get funky to will be Portland’s own Line of Force. The party starts at 8 o’clock.
Empire Dine and Dance in Portland is getting into the Halloween spirit this evening with their Voodoo event upstairs tonight. HD R&B will be kicking out some soul and funk amidst an atmosphere of voodoo inspired art. It should be a unique and strange experience, so check it out starting at 9.
Slainte Wine Bar & Lounge in Portland hosts a pretty cool show tonight with a couple of unique acts doing their thing on stage this evening. Tonight you can check out Portland’s Jesse Gertz as his performs under his pseudonym Glass Fingers for a set of live instruments mixed with humor and a batch of strange electronic effects alongside Mr. Neet and Saturday Giant. Things get started right around 9pm.
And downstairs at The Asylum in Portland tonight is this Saturday’s Home Event, which cleverly enough features house music from DJs Jamie O’Sullivan, Marcus Caine, Chris Gauthier and Ryan Tapia. It’s a free event and the fellas promise to make you dance all night long as they celebrate their two year anniversary of the series starting at 9 o’clock tonight.
Another place to shake what your momma gave ya takes place over at Flask Lounge this evening. Starting at 9 DJs Barry Juicy and Che Ross invite you to get down at their free dance party.

Paranoid Social Club will be bringing the thunder in Old Town tonight as they rock and roll it over at Kingman’s. The fellas will be cranking ‘em out starting at 9 tonight.
If you’re up in Bangor tonight, head over to Impanema Bar & Grille where the very unique prog-rock band, The 220s will be playing. The 220s take their influences from The Beatles to Pink Floyd to Radiohead and create something that is truly all their own. I’ve been nothing but impressed by these dudes, so if you find yourself in the area, check them out starting at 9:30.
Shit is going to get LOUD down in Dover Rock City tonight as Portland’s own Murcielago and Whitcomb take the stage at The Dover Brickhouse alongside Boston’s Planetoid. Buy a hat and get ready to hold the eff on to it starting at 9.
